The Comeback

Valerie produces her own pilot for a reality show that she hopes will get picked up by a cable network, but discovers that her archenemy, Paulie G., has his own series in the works with a plot that sounds all too familiar.

HBO asks Valerie to bring back the producer that followed her on "Room and Bored".

Valerie is excited to meet her co-star during the first day on set for "Seeing Red".

Valerie makes an impulsive decision when she learns that some of her "Seeing Red" scenes may be cut. Later, she brushes up on her improv skills at The Groundlings Theatre.

As shooting for "Seeing Red" reaches its conclusion, Valerie faces the prospect of working a different director, an interview with a journalist from the New York Times and several other problems.

Valerie tries to plan a special date night for her and Mark, but a gruelling day-long reshoot in the desert thwarts her plans. Meanwhile, Valerie sets off Paulie G.'s anxiety by talking about early reviews of "Seeing Red".

"Seeing Red" is finally on the air and Valerie is exposed to a variety of critical thoughts. Far more critical than the ladies of "The Talk", or a pressroom of media bloggers, is husband Mark. On a surprise trip to Mickey's apartment, Valarie gets a surprise herself.

It's Emmy weekend and Valerie is getting her first real taste of success, thanks to her performance in "Seeing Red". At Juna's big Hollywood party, Valerie turns a few heads, including that of her hunky former "Room and Bored" co-star, who is now a big movie star.

In an attempt to land a role in a new sitcom, Hollywood actress Valerie Cherish agrees to allow reality cameras to follow her comings and goings at home and on the set. Although she wins the part, Valerie must swallow her pride when the producers recast her.

The cast of "Room and Bored" are flown in to NYC to be introduced to the media. In the Big Apple, Valerie gets stiffed on a perk, misses out on a meal, frets about her stepdaughter's dinner guests back in LA, and fears the worst as the network prez intros the cast.

After a table read for 'the first official episode', Valerie invites her co-stars to a 'bonding lunch', but Juna doesn't show up. The two make up later with a one-on-one lunch, where Valerie learns why Juna is such a paparazzi favourite.

Concerned that Paulie G. has written an unflattering line that will turn audiences against her character, Valerie enlists a new writer, Gigi, to help pitch a less-offensive one. Meanwhile, Valerie rethinks her impulsive decision to adopt a puppy.

Valerie worries her comeback storyline isn't 'enough' as the network tries to spice up her reality show by cross-breeding it with another one. At home, Mark is increasingly frustrated by the restraints the ubiquitous cameras have made on the couple's sex life.

With the cast in a funk following "Room and Bored's" lacklustre premiere, Valerie tries to boost morale with a late-night cookie delivery. Mickey accuses Valerie of sharing details about his private life. Valerie tries to get Shayne to see her show in a different light.

Excited about a "Room and Bored" episode dedicated to her character, Valerie pulls some strings to get a 'name' actor to play Aunt Sassy's romantic interest. Mark's conduct at the Viper Room brings to light some intimacy issues that are too hot for the camera.

Valerie and Mark head to the desert for a long weekend at a Palm Springs resort - with strings attached. While Mark draws the line with Jane's crew on the golf course, Valerie finds a new mentor in an old acquaintance.

At the insistence of the network "Room and Bored" gets a makeover and two new cast members, Greg and Kaveen, spurring talk of a coup by the 'original five'. Meanwhile, Franchesca's new friend Kalla shakes up the status quo at home.

With Juna getting all the hype and most of the magazine covers, Valerie enlists a new publicist, Billy Stanton, to land a cover of her own. Billy obliges by scoring a shoot for "Be Yoga", forcing Valerie to remodel her fitness room and take a yoga crash course.

Valerie gets a new dress and a new look for a familiar TV-award show.

Jane pulls rank on Tom and Paulie G. to get Valerie more lines on "Room and Bored". A stalker threat forces extra security on the set, exposing Valerie's old back problems as she's prepping for a big pratfall scene.

After hosting a memorable coming-out party for the premiere of "The Comeback", Valerie makes an even more memorable guest appearance on "The Tonight Show".
